Earthquake - Auria x Ido
It had almost been a week since Republic City felt the earthquake that destroyed nearly a fourth of the city. The nearest fault line was miles and miles away from the city, leaving the only cause of the terrible tremor to be rogue earthbenders, powerful ones at that. The only bender capable of creating a quake as large as this would be the Avatar herself, but she was far from Republic City.
Within that harsh week, the police struggled to recover survivors that were buried beneath the debris. There were many dead and many more injured. Among the severely injured was Officer Auria Syun who had been discovered unconscious at one of the main sources of the quake. Her injuries seemed minor, but there was something else causing her to inch closer to death. The medics were certain that her pregnancy had not been jeopardized nor were there any internal injuries left unhealed. Perhaps it was all an illness of the mind, but nevertheless, the fear of losing her scared many.
Officer Ido Kinzoku, Auria’s lover, sat at her side in the infirmary. Only eating or sleeping when the nurses and medics forced him to. Every day and night, Ido read to Auria in the hopes that his voice would find her and bring her back. He also read to her to make up for all the time she was unable to read, in a way keeping up with his teaching her.
The medics had grown wary as Auria’s condition seemed to remain the same. On occasion, she would wake up, but it would only be for a minute or two before she was unconscious again. There was little they could do. Luckily, the Avatar had returned to the city in dismay. She was briefed by the police force the moment she arrived from the North Pole. Korra was saddened to hear that a terrorist group of earthbenders had caused a near catastrophic earthquake that almost wiped out almost a third of the city. After hearing the reports and information the police had recovered, she visited the hospitals instead of going to a press conference. She had to help in any way she could, especially with the injuries that the regular waterbenders could not heal alone.
